Funny stories the last couple of days

Lily:  Lily came running down from her room screaming that she was hearing weird buzzing noises from her room.  Then she started screaming and jumping because she could hear the buzzing downstairs too.  All of a sudden she pulled on her shirt and a fly flew out, crashed into the window and died.  Lily had had many weird experiences with bugs (spiders in her bed, earwigs in her ears) so it was no surprise that this experience happened to her.

The dead fly in the window sill

Kara:  Kara has had a really bad day andtold me this morning that she was mad and I would just have to deal with it.  This evening as we were reading scriptures I tried to get Her to sit on my lap.  She sat on my lap for a second and then gave me a pillow and told me to pretend that it was her.  Really?  She is quite the girl!

Go Dan!

Dan still works part time at the hospital.  He got a letter from the new CNO in the mail a couple of days ago.

Way to go Dan!

Lily graduates from kindergarten!

Some of Lily's buddies.

Lily's class
Lily is so excited to be in the 1st grade!
Kara and Lily hugging before graduation. There were many "aaaaahs" from the audience.

Mrs. Thompson giving Lily her diploma.

Mrs. Thompson & Mrs. Nichols giving Lily her candy bar award "the Milky Way award" because her assignments are out of this world!

Lily and Mrs. Thompson.  We LOVE her and Lily is going to stay in her class since Mrs. Thompson is moving to 1st grade.  Wahoo!

Random Fun

Kara learning to ride a bike.  Dan took off the pedals so she can push herself around until she gets more comfortable.

Kara blowing wishes!

Lily's best friends from school:  Carter and Kylee, also Lily and Kara, selling "crystals" (whitefish rocks) they found in our driveway.  Their teacher stopped in the way home and bought 3 of them.  Overall they made about $2 which they are planning to donate to their school.

Lily lost another tooth and looks like a jack-o-lantern.  This is a picture of tooth #6.

Easter

We did lots if fun things for Easter this year:

We dyed Easter eggs for the first time since Lily was little.  The girls lived it!

Grandma Mecham was in Michigan for Easter so Grandpa went Great Grandma mrcham's for Easter Sunday.  He stopped by in the way home.

The Easter Bunny brought penny banks, books (Lily got a book about Fancy Nancy and losing teeth, Kara's book is all about polar bears with quite a few seagulls that she loves).

Our ward had an Easter Egg hunt.  Here are some of Lily's ward buddies:  Charlie and Kennedi.  Such fun girls!

And of course Kara looking as cute as can be.  She was very excited for the hunt and the chocolate she got at the end.

Soccer

We signed the girls up for the spring soccer season.  It was sooo fun for Lily, not so much for Kara.

Lily caught on really fast and made lots of goals.  Her two best friends from kindergarten...Kylee and Carter...were on the same team.  Her friend from our old ward was also on the team and her mom was the coach.

Kara is only 3 and lost interest in soccer very quickly.  At first she REALLY wanted to score but her little legs wouldn't let her keep up.  We have decided that 6 is a good age to start kids in sports!

The girl's uniforms.  Kara's team was the Purple Dragons.  Lily's team was the Green Goblins.  The girls had many conversations about which team had the scariest names.

Lily's good friend Kylee from kindergarten.

The last soccer games were the best.  Lily's team did awesome!  Lily scored and played better and more intense then she ever has (it definitely was the new cleats).  Kara scored 2 goals for the other team (we still counted them) and then she actually scored for our team even after she was knocked down on one knee.  I was proud of both girls!  They got medals for completing spring soccer.

Don Aslett's Museum of Clean

Finally something fun to blog about!  We are so tired of winter and we were so glad to get out of the house!
Turn on a switch and it sucks you in like a vacuum!
An old washer/rinses turned into a love seat.

The girls got to go into a real chimney and wear chimney sweep clothes.

Kara thought it was dumb to take a picture on a toilet.
Lily did a puppet show with Don Aslett.

Washing clothes just like the pioneers.

                Caution wet floors!
Don's brother showing Kara how        water used to be carried.
One of the first vacuums.
A knight made out of garbage cans.
The kid planet kept the girls busy for a couple of hours.
Cleaner dumb bells

Scriptures!

We made a goal as a family to read the Book of Mormon every day for the whole month.  (Our goal is consistency, not length.)  For every month that we do this we get to go to Kiwi Loco (a local yogurt shop).  We read every day in January and went to Kiwi Loco tonight.

20 weeks!

I'm officially 20 weeks today!  Woohoo!  Only 19 weeks to go (they start me one week early).  The last part of the pregnancy will hopefully go faster than the first half!

Funny Kids!

The kids have said the funniest things today!

Lily
Mom:  I better go do visiting teaching today before I chicken out.
Lily:  What's that Mom?  Is it a restaurant?  Can I go to Chicken Out with you?

Kara
Earlier this week Kara was laughing and accidentally snorted.  She had never done that before and has spent the whole week perfecting her new talent.  Today I dropped Kara off at Sunbeams and talked to her teacher.  Kara kept snorting and giggling.  I explained to the teacher that she had just learned to snort.  He said "apparently."  I feel bad for the Sunbeam teachers...there are at least 10 Sunbeams....one who is a habitual snorter.
