Happy 5th, Rancho Cordova!!

We were trying to get pix of Lily & Brianna. Brianna got tired of sitting but Lily held on to keep her there.

The 5-year-olds pass the torch

The drumline (we got this picture for you Eric!)

We put Lily and Brianna into the same swing. They loved it!

2008 is Rancho Cordova's 5th birthday. They have a lot of fun events that are happening this year. The latest event was a free bbq with entertainment & a torch. The torch is being passed to Rancho Cordovians who are only 5 years old, too. Rancho Cordova is kind of a rough community but everyone is working hard to make it a nicer place to live. This is the reason that we purchased a home here. It was fun!

The Lamest Memorial Day EVER!

We were so excited for Memorial Day weekend. Saturday we were going to Deaver Vineyard (http://www.deavervineyard.com/gallery.html) where our friend was playing in a band for a yearly gala. Instead Lily's allergies went to a cold. We were also looking forward to going to Dan's boss' house for a bbq but by that time I was sick, too.

Sunday night we took Lily to Instacare where we found out her eardrum had ruptured. She also had an eye infection. Then Monday night we took me to Instacare where they treated my bronchitis. Both me and Lily are now on 3 medications each!! We're hoping Dan's not the next one to get sick.

Allergies can sure mess the body up!! We're excited to hopefully get better soon!

Uncle Travis Comes to Visit

Travis got to attend the Mormon History Association Conference in Sacramento so he flew out and stayed a few extra days with us before it started. The adventure all started with me picking him up at the Oakland Airport. We then headed straight up the hill in search of the Oakland Temple. On the way home we got lost and ended up at the San Francisco airport. My favorite part of the trip was when we passed a Krispy Kreme (the Krispy Kreme by my house went out of business when I was about 4 months preggo with Lily). I took the next exit and headed back to find it. After awhile we got tired of looking and went through the drive-thru of Taco Time to ask for directions to Krispy Kreme. We finally found it!! Wow. I'd forgotten how good they are.

We had a lot of fun taking him to our favorite sandwich shop (http://www.beachhutdeli.com/) and Dan & T went to The Spiderwick Chronicles.

Unfortunately our Lily had really bad allergies so a lot of his time was spent holding a crying baby & helping clean our house (the kitchen is still clean, Travis!). We were grateful to have some extra hands to help out!

Just Because

Here are a few pictures that can only fit under "Miscellaneous".
One of Lily's favorite place to play.

Back to the water park!! It was Dan's first time seeing her there and he couldn't stop taking pictures!!

It was a hot day and we had forgotten a hat for Lily. Luckily Dan had his...

Now that I have a child I have an excuse to play at the playgrounds nearby and not feel too geeky. This is one of the coolest toys I've seen at a play area! It spins and spins until you want to puke.

Hot, Hot, Hot

For any of you who have watched the weather lately, you have noticed that the weather here in Sacramento has been unreasonably hot. Unfortunately our AC decided to stop working at the same time. The fix it guys aren't able to come until Friday so we were resigned to the fact that we would just have to roast (or melt) this week. Fortunately our friends, the Freemans, offered to lend us their window-unit AC until we could get ours fixed.

So, we stopped by on Sunday after church to get it. They invited us to hang out in their heat-free house for awhile. Then they invited us to stay for lunch. Then they invited us to stay for dinner!! They also entertained Lily since she wasn't feeling good and cried a lot.

Bill is a train fanatic and knows everything about them. Also he has train tracks going through his house and cool trains that can ride them. Lily was enthralled by them and watched them go back and forth for at least 20 minutes.

Thanks Bill and Lia for allowing us to make your home our home for the day!!

The Swimming Pool

As mentioned in the above blog, our AC is broken right now. The temperatures over the weekend were about 100 degrees. We were all cooking and ready for some relief. So we went and bought Lily a swimming pool. The water was REALLY cold so at first she and I just sat on the tarp and played in the little pools of water. Once we warmed it up with hot water Dan and Lily got in. Lily loves the water (most of the time) so it was the best $$ we have ever spent!!

Garage Sales Rock!!

I found this cool little car at a garage sale for $1!! I saw it at Toys R Us for $20 so I was pretty excited about my find. Lily was pretty excited, too. These two pictures are pretty much the same but her facial expressions in each picture are so cute that I had to show both.

I found this exersaucer on the same day. I had been looking for one for months!! The stores sell them for around $80. I got this one for $5!! She can sit in it or stand and the seat spins around see she can see the toys all around her. She loves it and is forever entertained.

Have I mentioned that I LOVE garage sales? =0)

Bragging Rights

So I have to brag about my hubby for a minute. For the last 1.5 years he has been working to complete all the tests (there are 6-7) to become a licensed landscape architect. Before he started taking the tests we heard how hard they were & how hardly anyone passed them the first time.

We just found out that Dan passed his last test so he is officially a licensed Landscape Architect!! Not only that but he passed all of the tests the FIRST TIME!!

We are proud of you, Danny!!

Love,

Jan & Lily

Water Park!!

My friend, Jessica, and I took our kids to the water park. Lily loved it!! She kept playing and playing until she wore herself out and wanted a nap. Lily is so adventurous!! We have decided that's why she cries so much at home. She gets bored!!!

Our Neighbor

Our neighbors are Armenian. The mother & son live together. The mother speaks only a few words of English. The other day she randomly stopped by our house to give Lily some clothes & to bring us an Armenian treat. She jabbered on for quite awhile. We had no idea what she was saying but nodded our head when she took a breath & smiled when she smiled. She is a very sweet lady.

Flying??

Lily has started doing the funniest thing. She puts her arms straight out no matter what she is doing! We can't decide if she is doing a balancing act or if she thinks she is flying. It sure makes us laugh!!
