Anyways, I wasn't about to sit around so the girls and I went hiking. The hike was only a mile and the travel guide said it was a moderate hike. Moderate means "not to great with kids all by yourself" I found out. It was a pretty hard hike with steep climbing. But we made it with only a bit of blood.

Camping
We went camping in a canyon that is only abou 15 minutes from us. It's way smaller than Zion's National Park but it has the same kind of beautiful rock. We were so excited to go camping since it's been awhile. These pictures are out of order so bare with me!
Our camping spot was beautiful! Right up against the rock and really close to the bathroom. This was a necessary commodity since we made Lily drink a ton of water to stay hydrated and she has a small bladder.
This camping trip was pretty spur of the moment. We weren't sure what to do for food since we don't have any camping cooking stuff. And then from the depths of my brain I remembered that I learned how to cook out of a can when I was in Young Womens. So we went and bought our favorite soups and a can opener and we were ready to cook dinner!
For breakfast we heated up some muffins and some already cooked bacon. I was pretty impressed with our cooking capabilities despite our limitations!
The sand dunes were so fun and they were only a couple blocks from our campsite. It was kind of chilly once you dug down past the top layer. Dan got motivated and dug a hole big enough for all the girls. Kara didn't like it. I have to admit I was a big claustrophobic with my legs stuck beneath such heavy soil.
Kara did this a couple of times...she gave up that we were ever going to go home and just toppled over. Poor girl! She was so tired!
Me at the top of the Pioneer names mountain. It was one of the scariest things I've done in a really long time. Dan had to climb up and help me down...I've never climbed that big of a mountain before! And there weren't very many hand holds going down. I was pretty proud of myself once I got over being scared.
The pioneer names. These men founded the neighboring town. They wrote their names with grease from their wagon. Pretty cool, huh? Funny how these names are "history" but if we were to write our names on rock walls now it would be considered "graffiti" and "illegal."
At the top. Lily wasn't hardly afraid of climbing anything. It made me a little nervous that she wasn't nervous.
On our way up to camping Dan realized that he had a mandatory meeting at 2:30 pm (it was 1:00 when we realized this) and then he had to go to work at 5:30pm for an hour. So after he set up our tent he headed out. It was a bummer because we were on this vacation for his spring break!!
There were checkpoints where you could learn about different plants in the area. At each checkpoint Lily had to "bear her testimony." It was pretty cute.
The next day we went on the same hike so that Dan could go with us. Kara thoroughly enjoyed pulling on Daddy's hat.
Dan decided he wanted to climb as high as possible. This isn't as high as he went but in the picture that I took of him you couldn't see him he was so high. So this is him about half way down.

I know it's been a long time since I've blogged. Here's a quick catch up of the little things in March:
Lily's first official birthday party for her friend. It was a little friend she met in tumbling.
Lily couldn't wait to give her friend the present she had picked out.
The birthday cake. I think we'll do this one for Lily's birthday. Pretty cute and really easy. The little cakes in the corner were gluten free for Lily. _____________________________________________________________ My Birthday Party!
My cake was the famous jello cake with pudding frosting on it. My parents got to be there for my party. We went to Winger's for my birthday dinner.
Thanks everyone for the presents and cards and texts!

Playgroup and Structured Activity
Our ward does a structured activity on Tuesdays. This particular week was dancing. The girl who did the dance activity was amazing! She's an amazing dancer and was wonderful at getting the kids involved.
Playgroup is at the park on Thursdays. Tons of people come. It is a blast to watch the kids play. We have lots of people come who are friends of friends of peeps in our ward and even people who we met at the park.

Water Park!
There is the coolest water park not too far from our house. It's more of a river. The coolest thing about it is that it's chlorinated water!!!
