Hangin' with the Family (This time the Southwicks)

We were excited to head to Dan's parent's home. Unfortunately Lily got sick and so the fun time turned into a nightmare! The poor girl cried and cried! She had to have her nose wiped every 2 seconds. We finally took her to the doctor where we found out she had an infection in each eye and an ear infection. Plus, I had accidentally given her real milk (she's allergic) instead of soy and so she was really stuffed up on top of being sick. It was a sad time.

She had a lot of popsicles and baby Ensure frozen pops.

She enjoyed playing with the baby in between nose wipes.

She had a really hard time sleeping the whole time we were there until the night before we left. She finally slept through the night. And into the morning! We kept moving her around while we were trying to get ready to go but she kept sleeping!

Here is Great-Grandma Ward, Grandma Southwick and Grandpa Southwick. We caught them in their jammies but we really needed a picture of them!

Dan went to visit his old professors at BYU-I. They took him on a tour of the horticulture department where he saw cantelope growing from the ceiling!

He also had multiple interviews in Rexburg, Pocatello, Blackfoot and Salt Lake City. So far none have panned out. Luckily we know the Lord is in charge and that we will get a job when the time is right.

It was a great trip.

The Wedding Reception

There was a luncheon after the wedding (oops, forgot to get pictures) and then we all headed to Daniel's condo to get ready. Here's a pix of most of the girls getting ready.

Unfortunately, the night before the wedding Daniel's heater went out. After the wedding Daniel called around a found a heater guy to come fix it. Who knew he'd be a part of our blog!

Their cake was so cute and absolutely original.

Here's a pix of most of the girls. The professional photographer got a picture of all the girls. I can't wait to get it.

Daniel trying to get the Mecham grandkids to look at the camera.

This is a great picture of Lily in her dress with her butterfly barretts. This is going to be her Easter dress, too, so our CA friends can see her in it. She's adorable!

Lily suddenly decided that she was soooo thirsty that she had to drink out of my mom's cousin's glass.

Kaitlyn taking a break and eating some waffles. Oh, ya--they had a waffle bar for their refreshments. It was divine!

Emily was ready to go by the end of the night.

The Wedding

The wedding was wonderful! The sealer was hilarious. When the wedding was over he told my brother to kiss Mrs. Mecham. When Daniel kissed Kaitlyn he said "Be grateful that he didn't kiss his mother." Ha ha. It was a great wedding.
Daniel & Kaitlyn. Congratulations!

Hanging With the Family

Lily was very happy to see your cousins. She hugged them nonstop. Have you ever tried to get to little girls to both look into the camera at the same time? It's IMPOSSIBLE!

WE were very happy to see that Lily quickly reacquainted herself with Grandma & Grandpa's toilet.

Lily and Andrew had fun drawing on the dry erase board.

Lily is very picky with her blankets. She has many blankets that were made with love by many of our friends and family. She loves them all but hasn't become attached to one in particular. Then Lily found Shonnee's fleece blanket and wouldn't let it go. So we made one for her. She still loves it!!

We love pink!

Grandpa has a song that he sings. The grandkids dance and giggle and throw their hands up in the air at the end of the song.

Lily started doing this silly little pose at the end of the song to show that she wanted him to sing it again. I'm not sure where he came up with that pose but she did it after the end of the song or when she wanted Grandpa to start singing the song.

This is a funny picture, just because.

Getting to the Wedding

Lily was much better this trip than the last one (Lily cried the whole way there). Every time we go on a long trip I get a new toy for Lily. This latest toy was definitely her favorite so far:

I found this doll for really cheap at Ross's. It a "sick" baby. She played with it for awhile and then when she got tired of it I put the batteries in. If you press the baby's right hand the cheeks light up like she has a fever. If you press her left hand she cries. Lily loved this! She did get a little freaked out by the cheeks, though. When it got dark her whole head lit up not just her cheeks.

Lily and I had fun playing pick-a-boo.

The snack box was right next to her chair. She thoroughly enjoyed the tortilla chips we had brought as part of our dinner. She thinks the chips are crackers.

Lily was sooo glad to get to the hotel. She ran around and around. Then she finally settled into bed and just giggled.

She's just cute.

Camp Fundraiser

In the world where Ward Camp Specialists are called, stress insues. I was called to be the specialist a couple of months ago. The big part of this calling is planning and carrying out a fundraiser to help the girls pay their way to camp. Wow! I have planned a lot of dinners and events like this in college but I always had rsvps and somehow the planning seemed to go a lot smoother.

Last night the even occurred! I was biting my nails because I was so worried if anyone would come and if we would make enough $ for the girls. Anyways, here are some pictures of the night:

The theme for the night was "Girl's Camp."

Here are some of the girls and some leaders cutting food like crazy. We had baked potatoes (this was a fantastic fundraiser meal. It was absolutely yummy but didn't cost a lot. Thanks for the idea, Mom!)

To show those there for the fundraiser some of the things the girls do at Girl's Camp, the girls put together a few skits. This one was "So You Think You Can Dance." The girls practiced so hard on this skit and they did a great job! We also had camp songbooks in the middle of the tables and had camp song sing-a-longs. Great job girls!

Here are two of the leaders who helped out with it all (I can't believe I didn't get a group pix of the leaders!). The leaders were sooo supportive and helpful in making this a success.

So, here's the thing I learned about this calling (as we know the Lord gives us callings to teach us):

Don't stress! Just do the best you can with what you've got and it will all turn out okay.

Oh, yes, and we did raise enough money for the girls to go to Girls Camp without having to come too much out of pocket!! Thanks to the ward members for their willingness to help out.

The Funny Things We are Proud Of

Lily has started communicating a lot through sign language.

The other day Lily did the potty sign to Dan.

Then she pooped!

We are proud parents.
